Hey everyone! I know it’s been a long time since I made a new blog post, sent out a newsletter, or even posted on social media. But now I’m back!
It seems like a lifetime ago that I had enough motivation to write a blog post, create a social media post, or even think about writing. I’m happy to say that’s over, and my ADHD powered hyper-focusing on procrastination has switched to focus on plotting and writing.
Can*Con SF 2023
This past weekend was Can*Con SF 2023, and what a great conference it was. I was a volunteer this year, and the amount of amazing people that I met was incredible. New writers, first time con attendees, writers that I knew from last year, and even some big names in Canadian speculative fiction were there.

Talking to other writers has really gotten then ol’ brain up and running, and I jotted down a lot of notes and ideas about what the next few stories will be. Plus, there were so many great panels and workshops I attended that gave me new insights into the writing craft.
I definitely hope to attend again next year!
Writing In Circles
As some of you may know, the Ottawa Writers Circle, which had been in operation for 10 years, came to a close this year. I had only been a member for about 2 years, but it was still a great group of people. With the end of the circle came a feeling of being alone. This made it difficult to write and get motivation, since I really didn’t know any other writers. I didn’t have anyone to talk to about what I was going through.
Luckily, a new group has risen out of its ashes, and I’m happy to be part of it! I’m so looking forward to see what this new group will bring to the writing scene here in Ottawa.

This is a restart. I’m back and I’m ready!
I hope you’re all still coming along with me on this journey. There will be trips to the stars, trips down the street, and trips into my mind (don’t worry, I’ll vacuum before you get here).
